Leonard
Lares is an up and coming cue maker in the Salinas Valley area of
Northern California. His current production output is only about 25
cues per year from his one-man shop, but don't let the small volume
fool you, this is not a hobby for Leonard, it's his passion AND his
full time job. Leonard builds cues the "old fashion way" without CNC
machines, and with a minimum of "frills". For Leonard, it's all about
playability, and while his cues are good looking, he tries hard to
keep the cost down by keeping them "simple and sweet hitting!"
Leonard has been building cues since 2003 and is self-taught. Although
he hasn't been making cues for very long, he's no stranger to custom
pool cues and pool halls and has been playing pool competitively since
his early teens. Over the years, he had the opportunity to learn and
play serious nine-ball with some notable players in Northern CA
including Harry Sims who was at one time the House Pro at the old
California Billiards Club. He has taken his love of the game and his
natural abilities with machinery and combined them into custom cues
that local nine-ball players love to play with.
Shannon Custom Cues may not be a "household name" just yet, but the
word is beginning to spread that Leonard Lares makes a "Helluva
good cue at
a decent price".
