 | Comments:
 | I guess I just can't pass up a good looking cue
that hits great. Kenny makes so few cues with 5/16"x14 Stainless
Steel Piloted Joints that just couldn't resist picking this one out
of the batch. |
 | What makes this cue stand out is the short East
Indian Rosewood points with the thick colorful veneers. The veneers
really POP against the Curly Maple and add a real splash of color
that is hard to miss...even from across the room! |
 | I'm not normally a big fan of cues with Stainless
Steel joints, but Kenny seems to be able to make them provide more
feedback than the average SS jointed cue....maybe it's the balance,
maybe it's his "non-brass" shaft insert (see below), or maybe it's
just between my ears :-) Whatever the reason, this one's a keeper! |
 | If you look at the picture below detailing the
joint end of the shaft on this cue, you will see that Kenny chose
not to put heavy brass insert into the shaft. Instead, he opted
for making his own Dymondwood insert placed into the maple tenon
of the shaft. In doing this, Kenny has eliminated any metal to
metal contact at the joint, and the joint/shaft combination is
substantially lighter which maintains the balance that Kenny was
looking for. Also, the Dymondwood is "tough as nails", so there
are no worries about stripping the threads on this cue, The only
other cue maker that I'm aware of who has used this technique is
"Nubs" Wagner who owned and operated Nova cue. |
